A bunch of the missions and HAs are actually really fun too if done once or twice. High enough that 2 rangers headshotting with an SK tanking and wizard also spamming nukes with shaman support couldn't exhaust all the mobs before they repopped. All of the nameds are completely unlinked from the other mobs. The run isn't terrible, but all of the SoV outdoor zones are enormous so it's further than it looks. Fire, it depends, the stronger DS doesn't outbalance it's weak tankage. You're Not Done at . Everything is gnomes, constructs, slimes, minotaurs, and elementals. Depending on how fast you're going this place is wonderful to 38, but tapers off to just decent after that IMO. You can pull the first floor starting about level 20 and move into the second floor about 24. Although inadvertently getting trained is a risk youre going to take if youre afk; regardless of what xp zone youre in. As of the Terror of Luclin expansion, the best mercenary equipment is "Vigilant", which is obtained in The Burning Lands zones. I can't think of many places where the time taken to get there and get setup to afk xp wouldn't have been better spent just killing or questing for regular xp then logging out. I have never played F2P so I can't tell you how to negotiate that. You cannot shroud to level 10 and keep a level 50 mercenary however. When you suspend your mercenary the button will change to Unsuspend. ALTERNATIVES: Arcstone(67-75)(Guild Hall, talk to portal crystal vendor and buy Arcstone Spirit Sapphire) - I really recommend this place to people with Undead control or slaying abilities. The estimated downtime is expected to be approximately 5 hours for the website and services, and 10 hours for servers. I will endeavor to keep this guide as up to date as possible and will revise as I play through zones with different class combinations or get better advice. You get access to mercenaries, which are hireable AI controlled party members. At 35, push into the area around frenzied ghoul and up toward Ghoul Lord. Third, get yourself maps immediately. Old Bloodfields (84-88)(PoK>TP to Plane of Time>Portal to The Void>Old Bloodfields) - While it won't be as good as it was as a hot zone, OBF is still a pretty good place to pick up these levels. This expansion introduced Mercenaries and basically completely changed the way you level in Everquest. The Droga area is super nice for rangers as the goblins are headshotable. BEST (84-92): The Grounds/Erudin Burning (PoK>Feerott, the Dream>House of Thule, Lower>The Grounds/Erudin Burning) - I love both of these zones. Riftseeker's Sanctum(69-78)(Guild Hall>Buy Chipped Shard of Slaughter>TP to Wall of Slaughter>Muramite Proving Grounds>Riftseeker's) - The mobs here hit hard, have lots of HP, heal, and resist spells, but the experience is awesome. It will pick up quite a bit around level 25, and you will get to 30 very very quickly. Mobs are tightly packed in some places and lots of classes who can swarm like to swarm here because of it. Once you are 75, start murdering Giants. Head through the city in the mountain area toward Blightfire Moors. You can go higher, but it isn't really worth it IMO. Everquest AFK Leveling Missions. Everquest, Everquest Leveling Guides Since leveling speed in Everquest is determined by Hotzones, which changes every now and then it's hard to find a leveling guide for Everquest. Passive: Your merc will not attack or heal anything. It was something I have wanted to do for a while but never had the time to do. They like to run, so bring a snare. Erudin also has a LOT of undead which are very concentrated in a few areas, making Paladin swarming much easier as well. With a group you can pull them pretty easily and have access to a HUGE number of mobs. You can push to 86-87 here by going into the west corridors, but the exp falls off a cliff at 83. Efficient: This stance causes your Mercenary to focus primarily on efficiency and preservation of resources. By this point you should have gear that can hold up and healers who know what's what. Mostly you'll be killing oashim rats and wraiths in the bottom right portion of the Tier 2 section. After 75, you get much stronger gear so you can quickly kill the minotaurs at the minotaur fort. At 70 though, it starts to seriously lose it's luster. BEST IF SOLO AND 58-62: 48-62 - Grieg's End(PoK>Nexus>Netherbian Lair>Dawnshroud Peaks>Grieg's) - This zone is a pretty long haul out, and has a couple of pretty rough pulls to get into the zone if you're here at the lower end of the range. These levels will go by in a flash, but watch out for the spiders. That is a great point. With each level gained, your mercenary earns access to one or more equipment slots for armor or mercenary-only Accolades. Will continue editing as I play through on different characters. If you are an Everquest Free to Play player then you will be unable to select a Journeyman Mercenary. When you zone in, the area you are in has mobs level 88-91ish. The number of mobs for straight grinding is also really impressive. ALTERNATIVES (48-62): 46-58 Old Sebilis (From City of Mist>Emerald Jungle>Trakkanon's Teeth>Old Sebilis) - How much range you get out of this zone is dependent on if it's a hot zone or not IMO. At 53 start heading down into the middle of the zone. They are in the places where the guards used to be. Owning any current expansion will also unlock these features. per mob. This area is great if you're a paladin as you can slay the undead and stun out the worst of the damage from the Erudite necromancers. RUN EVERYONE INDIVIDUALLY OR CALL OF HERO THEM IF YOU HAVE A MAGE. Only downside is that it's a hell of a run out to it. There is also a pair of undead graveyards here that can offer some decent exp in this range for Paladins, but the mob density is all that and you're better off in another zone. There are two main camps that you'll use. BEST : Plane of Fire (62-68(72))(PoK>PoTranq>Plane of Fire) - Grab yourself a levitate and float your way into the first city area of Plane of Fire. Just keep in mind that kills here will feel pretty slow since the giants have enormous HP pools and half the mobs have some form of healing ability. AFK XP gains are so increadibly low/slow that it isn't even worth the time or effort, even if that time is being stolen. This makes this one of the best places to grind for paladins trying to wrap up leveling or grind AAs. Stay away from the air giants though. Edited in general directions to each zone and a blurb about the benefits of being on a live server. You essentially get all the levels while doing things you would do anyway. Also adding a few notes about Sarith and Resplendant Temple as I spent some serious time in them lately but really just came to my conclusions about them. The merc trio can easily handle content to level 80 with you solidly playing your main toon (and dragging along the other two characters). Balanced: This stance is exactly how it sounds. Roughly 80% of the mobs are rootable and headshottable so this is a really nice zone for AAing with a ranger. One or two nameds are easily accessed from here. There is a big open courtyard almost as soon as you zone in. At that point start pushing through the shopkeepers to the south or go up the ramp to kill the masters and grandmasters. Kill them all. I don't like them and only do them if guildmates beg me to. They hit like trucks and run though, so bring a snare. It may not display this or other websites correctly. They are essential to following this guide. If you have a reliable interrupt though, pull like a madman and just prioritize those. The idea to help in grinding to where the other players are (level-wise) is to add two additional accounts and create a 3 box team. The east wall outside the citadel area offers constant spawns of cockatrice and a few yeti, as well as access to the two named cockatrice. Not very fast, but not very hard either. A player could easily gain the same amount of XP they got from 2 or 3 hours of AFK'ing pet/merc XP exploting if they spent 10 good minutes at the keyboard. I strongly recommend you choose a guide from this list though as these will be the guides I will continue to roll out updates to as time goes on. Whatever you do, don't try and fight in the cave to the Commonlands exit. Since I'm max level/AA, I guess I have only one reason I would afk XP to earn Merc AAs. Some of the Shissar are undead, but most aren't and they have high HP and hit hard to boot. The water and earth giants are the easiest giants, and the fire giants aren't too bad. These can quickly take you to 64-65.
